How to decorate your street

It's easy. All you need are flags, banners, bunting and a little creativity. Here's a few ideas to get you going...

  • Get hold and hang RWC 2011 Flag Bunting all over your house, fence and garage
  • Hang country flags for teams that you've adopted
  • Hang streamers and balloons
  • Hang Coloured lights
  • Dress up mascots in country colours (e.g. dress up brown teddy bears in Russian colours) - get your gear at the RWC shop
  • Adopt a second team by hanging signs and banners (e.g. paint ‘welcome’ in the languages of the visiting countries)
  • Paint fences and letterboxes in country colours and emblems (ask mum and dad first!)
  • Decorate your garden with country themes and plant flowers in different spring colours
  • Hold your own street party for the photo shoot – e.g. dress up in Namibian Dress, serve Namibian food or and invite all your other neighbours
  • Make wreaths for your door e.g. French themed – make it with baguettes and pastries

Get the kids involved too

Children under 10 years old can download the line art version of our decorated street illustration, colour it in and send it to us by 5pm on 23 September 2011 at PO Box 1473, Wellington and they could win one of 40 great prizes. See the colouring-in competition terms and conditions.
