New Zealand ICT
The industry includes areas as diverse as wireless infrastructure, software, health IT, transport and logistics technologies, digital content and geospatial and communications technology.
Big little industry
Our ICT industry contributes around $19.3 billion to the New Zealand economy each year and employs about 40,000 people. Telecommunications and programme distribution remains the most significant ICT commodity, with electronic devices and equipment the highest-value export commodity.
Early adopting Kiwis
New Zealand is known as an early adopter of new technologies and we are adept at applying technology to add value. There are exciting investment opportunities around New Zealand-made products that can be scaled up and marketed worldwide.
Hi-tech farming
Our ICT industry regularly partners with more traditional industries, like dairy farming and grape growing, to develop information management systems in areas such as farm management. Further opportunities exist around traceability, and reading and sensing technologies.
