The Mt Olympus Back to Reality Festival — Alpine Concert

Mt Olympus, Canterbury, is proud to host a free Alpine Concert by Mel Parsons and the Rhythm Kings as part of the Mt Olympus Back to Reality Festival.

Enjoy a barbecue and relax while the mellow tones of folk singer Mel Parsons drift across the breathtaking slopes of Mt Olympus.

Mel Parsons originally hails from the West Coast of New Zealand's South Island and is a singer-songwriter whose songs speak for themselves. Her sound is defined by mellow, intimate vocals and melodic hooks that have you humming along in no time. Parsons is known for ‘pin-drop’ performances, encompassing tunes which range from quiet and heartfelt ballads to rollicking country-inspired numbers.

Released in March 2009, Parsons' debut album Over My Shoulder was a finalist in the Folk Album of the Year category at the New Zealand Music Awards and has been applauded by critics, industry and audiences alike.

Experience this slice of real New Zealand with others who share a love for the mountains, music and a chance to relax in a warm and friendly atmosphere. The pre-concert entertainment includes novelty ski races and a spring barbeque to top off the end of the ski season.

Kick back on the slopes and soak up the late September sun.
