Catch "it!" Bay of Islands Seafood Tournament

Catch "it!" and be part of the friendly, competitive vibe of Northland's Bay of Islands Seafood Tournament. There'll be two days of fishing fun and competitions for you to join in on.

The tournament encompasses all seafood and it's your choice on how you catch your entry — by fishing off a boat, from the beach or spearfishing, or scuba/free diving for scallops and other shellfish.

At the end of each day of fishing there will be fish filleting, scallop shucking and kina sucking competitions, with the finals held at the “it” Bay of Islands Food and Wine Festival in the weekend. And each day the fresh catch will be auctioned off — you can take the catch home or have it cooked specially for you by a top chef at the Paihia Village Green.

On the Friday, watch the Great Cast Off — which fisherman or fisherwoman will throw the longest cast and win the annual trophy?
