Southern Lakes Festival of Colour

Add to my REAL NZ Festival trip planner Added to your REAL NZ Festival trip planner

The Festival of Colour offers six days and nights of astounding music, theatre, dance, writers and artists in venues set around the stunning autumnal backdrop of Otago's Southern Lakes.

The Southern Lakes Festival of Colour is based in the heart of the Southern Alps on the shores of Lake Wānaka in Otago. Wānaka is the perfect setting for an unhurried leisurely holiday or an action packed outdoor adventure, and during Autumn (April), it's one of the most spectacular parts of New Zealand to be in.

The landscape is a kaleidoscope of colours, from alluring gold to vivid reds, while the Festival of Colour provides its own six days and nights of colour with a rich programme presented in venues around Wānaka. For the 2011 Southern Lakes Festival of Colour, three new commissions are planned which will expand on the popular programme of music, theatre, dance, writers and visual arts as well as street theatre, a Schoolfest and garden tour.

The Festival also has a touring programme to the neighbouring towns of Tarras, Cromwell, Bannockburn, Hāwea, Luggate, Arrowtown, Clyde and Glenorchy, and for the first time in 2011, Queenstown.

Be inspired. Be astounded. Be in Wānaka.
