Silent Film Festival
Add to my REAL NZ Festival trip planner Added to your REAL NZ Festival trip plannerA three-day extravaganza, celebrating films from the Silent Era, screened in Ōpōtiki's fabulous Art Deco DeLuxe Theatre.
The Festival features the world premiere of an hour-long documentary compiled by the New Zealand Film Archive entitled All Black. It features footage from the 1905 Originals plus the 1924/1925 Invincibles.
Lloyd Jones, the author of The Book of Fame, about the 1905 Originals, is a special guest and will introduce the documentary before reading from his book.
Prior to Saturday's 2pm performance, a procession of more than 20 vintage vehicles will travel through town and park outside the theatre. Get into the swing of things for the festival and dress up for the specific films, or in 1930s style, and be in to win a prize and all-round adoration!
