Welcome to the Festival programme for 2011
In 2011, New Zealand will welcome the world!
As hosts of one of the world’s biggest sports events, Rugby World Cup 2011, New Zealand will be showcasing its cultures, people, languages and landscapes – celebrating our country and what we love most about living here. For the first time in New Zealand’s history, one festival will be held simultaneously for six weeks throughout the country, making RWC 2011 an unforgettable experience.
While the Tournament kicks off on 9 September 2011, New Zealand will be in festival mode from 1 January, as events and attractions around the country tap into the excitement. As that excitement builds, so will the festival programme, so keep watching.

About Wellington
Wellington city, the nation’s capital, is tightly wedged between the sea’s edge and the hills. Locals enjoy its compact layout, quirky charm and panoramic views. But more than half the region’s residents live further afield, from the fertile flats of the Hutt Valley to the long, sandy beaches of the Kapiti coast.
