Welcome to the Festival programme for 2011
In 2011, New Zealand will welcome the world!
As hosts of one of the world’s biggest sports events, Rugby World Cup 2011, New Zealand will be showcasing its cultures, people, languages and landscapes – celebrating our country and what we love most about living here. For the first time in New Zealand’s history, one festival will be held simultaneously for six weeks throughout the country, making RWC 2011 an unforgettable experience.
While the Tournament kicks off on 9 September 2011, New Zealand will be in festival mode from 1 January, as events and attractions around the country tap into the excitement. As that excitement builds, so will the festival programme, so keep watching.

About Manawatu/Whanganui
Manawatū, and to the south, Horowhenua, are heartlands, their towns surrounded by rich farm country, while the Whanganui and its river has long been important to Māori. The Whanganui region is dotted with historic meeting houses. Powerful natural forces have shaped these regions – from the breathtaking Manawatū Gorge to the winding River Road from Whanganui to Raetihi.
